Large companies have long sensed the potential value of investing in external start-ups. More often than not, though, they just can’t seem to get it right.
Corporate venture capitalists (CVCs) participated in 21.7% of European VC rounds in 2022, worth €42.6 billion, though down from previous year's 2,661 deals, with late-stage VC accounting for 37.3% of all deals with CVC involvement, offering startups credibility, networks, and experience while benefiting parent companies with access to new technology and markets.
